北京大学科学技术与医学史系成立于2018年11月，2019年4月正式揭牌。本系是在原有科学技术史和医学史学科点的基础上，以科学文化研究院的成立为契机，整合而成的教学和科研基本单位。首任系主任为韩启德院士。

医学史是我校最具历史传统和成果积淀的人文学科，也是学校文化的重要组成部分。我校在历史上曾是国内医学史研究的发源地，1914年陈邦贤倡导成立了我国历史上第一个医史研究会，展开了医学史的相关研究，并影响了一批杰出的医学史专家。为了传承我校医学史研究的历史，进一步提高我校医学人文研究水平，2017年4月成立了南京医科大学医学史研究中心。
《医学史公报》是由美国医学史协会和约翰斯.霍普金斯医学史学院联合出版的，涵盖了一个世纪四分之三的内容，涉及世界医学史的社科，文化，科技，包括对于医学史书籍的评论。但是摘要及全文均收费。
