广西民族大学科学技术与社会发展研究中心成立于2006年，前身为1986年成立的广西民族大学科技史研究室。现有研究人员23人，其中教授10人，研究员1人，副教授8人，讲师4人，博士8人，在读博士生4人，是中国少数民族科学技术史主要研究基地之一。研究中心主任、科技史学科带头人万辅彬教授自2000年起担任中国科学技术史学会少数民族科技史专业委员会理事长，该专业委员会目前挂靠在本中心。
