日前，中国农业科学院植物保护研究所科研团队在秆野螟属（Ostrinia）近缘种种群遗传方面取得研究进展，不仅首次在自然界中发现了亚洲玉米螟和欧洲玉米螟之间杂交个体，而且阐明了这两种秆野螟属近缘种的基因渗透现象。相关研究成果在线发表与生态学、群体遗传学领域期刊《分子生态（Molecular Ecology）》上。
