《化学世界》杂志创刊于1946年，系由上海市化学化工学会主办的应用类化工技术期刊。主要报道化学、化工生产和科研成果，交流生产经验。读者对象为从事化学化工科技人员和大、中学教师等。该刊为化学、化工综合性期刊，被列为全国中文核心期刊、中国生物医学核心期刊、中国科技论文统计来源期刊、美国《CA（美国化学文摘）千种表》中我国化学化工类核心期刊，为月刊，大16开本，每月25日出版，由邮局向国内外公开发行。
浙江工业大学化学工程与材料学院始建于1953年。学院现设有化学工程、应用化学、工业催化、化学工艺、材料学、农药学、化学等7个学科，其中应用化学、工业催化为浙江省重中之重学科，化学工程、材料学为浙江省重点学科。学院建有化学工程与技术一级学科博士点、博士后流动站，工学化学工程、化学工艺、工业催化、应用化学、材料学、材料物理与化学等6个工学硕士点。现有教职工190余人。
