内蒙古师范大学地理科学学院前身是1952年成立的内蒙古师范学院史地系，1955年设立为地理科，1958年升格为地理系，2001年更名为地理科学院。学院现有教师65人，其中教授13人，副教授21人。目前，地理科学学院下设地理科学、国土资源、城市与区域规划三个系；地理科学系下设地理教育、资源环境与城乡规划管理、地理信息系统三个专业；设两个研究所（即内蒙古地理研究所和城市规划设计所）等。
