香港中文大学吴多泰中国语文研究中心前身是中国语言学研究中心。1964年底周法高教授出任香港中文大学中文系讲座教授，随即于1966年成立中国语言学研究中心。中心的主要成绩有两方面，一是金文研究，二是古音研究。
