2016年10月24-26日，由南海海洋所、IODP-中国办公室、中国海洋地球物理学会联合举办的“火山与非火山型大陆边缘的结构和演化”学术研讨会在学术报告厅举行，中科院地质与地球物理研究所、三亚深海所、广州地化所、国家海洋局二所等科研院校学者和学生80多人参会。南海所副所长林间致辞，并介绍了南海海洋所概况和中科院边缘海地质重点实验室发展方向。
