美国和英国研究人员用激光测量后发现,世界最高树木重量远高于原来估算,吸收的碳元素也比原来估算多。据英国《泰晤士报》16日报道,英国伦敦大学学院和美国马里兰大学研究人员用激光测量美国加利福尼亚州北部生长的红杉后得出上述结论。红杉是世界上最高的树种。研究人员测量发现,一株名为“阿姆斯特朗上校”的老红杉高88米、重110吨,而原来估算重量是70吨至90吨。与先前测量技术相比,激光测量结果更准确。
